Privacy policy
Daily Tech Wizard ("we") runs the Instagram account @dailytechwizard, this website and its newsletter. This page explains what information we handle, why, and how to ask us to delete it.
Who we are: Daily Tech Wizard, Australia. Contact: hello@dailytechwizard.com
What we collect
If you join the newsletter: your email address, when you joined, which sign-up box you used, the sign-up wording you agreed to, and when you pressed Confirm in our email. Nobody gets the newsletter without confirming.
If you send us a message with the Get in touch form: your name, email address, company or brand if you give one, what it is about, your message, and when you sent it.
When you interact with @dailytechwizard on Instagram, we receive from Meta (Instagram's owner), through its official API:
- Comments on our posts and replies in their threads: your Instagram username, the text, when it was posted, and which post it is on.
- Our posts' statistics, such as reach, likes and saves. These are numbers about our posts, not about you.
We also read public posts from public business and creator accounts in our topic area (captions, post type, like and comment counts) to learn which kinds of posts do well.
To stop sign-up and message abuse we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your connection's IP address and the date, deleted within 3 days. We never store the IP address itself.
We do not collect passwords, payment details, contact lists, or anything from private accounts. This website sets no cookies, runs no scripts, and loads nothing from other companies: its fonts and images are served from our own site.
How and why we use it
- To send the newsletter to people who asked for it.
- To answer your message. It is shown to us in a private dashboard and we reply by email. We do not add you to the newsletter or any list.
- To reply to you. New comments are shown to us in a private dashboard. A draft reply may be written with the help of an AI model, using only your comment and our post. A person reads and approves every reply before it is posted.
- To decide what to post. Our post statistics and public posts from other accounts help us choose topics, formats and posting times.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers below.
Where it is kept and who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores sign-ups, messages, comments, our post statistics and logs.
- Resend delivers our emails. It holds your email address while you are subscribed, and handles the unsubscribe link in the daily email (the welcome email's link is handled by this site).
- Meta delivers Instagram data to us through its API.
- Anthropic (the AI model) processes a comment's text when a reply is drafted.
These providers may process data outside Australia.
How long we keep it
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When you unsubscribe, the emails stop and your address is deleted straight away. An unconfirmed sign-up is deleted after 30 days.
- Messages you send us: deleted 12 months after they arrive, or sooner if you ask.
- The scrambled sign-up and message code: deleted within 3 days.
- Comments and replies: deleted 12 months after we receive them, or sooner if you ask.
- Images and videos we upload for our posts: removed from our storage after 30 days.
- Our own post statistics: kept while the account exists.
Asking for deletion
Anyone can ask us to delete their information. Email hello@dailytechwizard.com with the subject "Delete my data" and your email address or Instagram username. We will delete what we hold about you within 30 days and confirm by email. Deleting your own comment on Instagram is done in the Instagram app; we cannot delete other people's content from Instagram.
You can also ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at the same address.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
